The Management Development Programme - Locality Teams aims to build and develop locality teams. The programme is fully funded by the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC)
The Children's Workforce Development Project's 2009 training needs analysis of the private, voluntary and independent children's workforce in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland found that inappropriate training times were a significant barrier for to training.
In order to gain a better understanding of what 'inappropriate time' means for the sector we are asking groups to complete a short (6 questions) tick box survey to tell us what times are best for them.

The Children's Workforce Development Project is funding two places on the Common Induction Training Programme.
The four day induction training programme is based on the Children's Workforce Induction Standards and embeds the Common Core of Skills and Knowledge at an introductory level. The Programme is aimed at those working at levels 1 to 4 and who are new to the workforce or their role.
During the development of the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for preventing and tackling domestic and sexual abuse/violence, discussions took place over the potential need for qualifications based on the standards.
Skills for Justice are now undertaking a scoping exercise to assess the potential demand for qualifications. If they are to proceed with developing a qualification, it will assist them in putting together a successful funding bid.
Most youth work programmes are open to young women and young men; however there may sometimes be a need for these groups to have their own individual space. This gives them the opportunity to discuss and consider issues that may be awkward to discuss in a mixed gender setting.
The cost of the course includes a copy of the accompanying training manual which offers various activities such as scenarios, discussion starters, games, small and large group discussions, individual reflection, reading, creating posters and role play.
Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
• Be confident in using the training manual to train other key members of staff to deliver the two day programme
• Outline some of the key issues in the lives of young men
• Describe some recent trends and research findings with regards to boys and young men
• Discuss some of the issues and challenges that workers face in working with boys and young men
• List a range of activities, methods etc… that can be used when working with boys and young men, and describe some of these activities in detail
• Give examples of how some of these activities, methods etc… could be used in a programme, aimed at addressing a particular problem or scenario
• Describe some difficult situations that workers might face with boys and young men, and outline some strategies for dealing with these
• Outline some useful sources for finding further information and resources relating to work with boys and young men
