Sport England: Sustainable Investment in Communities Fund

Sport England has announced that its Sustainable Investment in Communities Fund will re-open for applications on the 26th October until the 21st December 2010. The fund will be available to organisations such as sports clubs, voluntary or community organisations, local authorities, and education establishments, such as schools, colleges and universities to invest in innovative projects capable of transforming the places where we play or take part in sport.

Training group offers funding for activities that inspire young black people

Youth charities are being invited to bid for a share of a £20,000 grant to organise activities to "encourage and inspire" young black people.
The Black Training and Enterprise Group (BTEG) is offering grants of £500 to 40 local community and voluntary groups through its Reach Community Engagement Fund.


Third Sector Investment Programme: Innovation Excellence and Service Development Fund 2011-12

The Innovation, Excellence and Service Development Fund provides funding to support projects that support and drive forward new ideas, excellence or developments in services in health and social care.

The scheme is open for applications for projects to start in April 2011 or later; we cannot accept applications after the closing date, which is 1 November 2010 at noon.

Voluntary sector asked for their ideas on how to do more for less

Minister for the Cabinet Office, Francis Maude, and Minister for Civil Society, Nick Hurd, have written an open letter to the voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors asking them to contribute their ideas to help reduce the deficit. They are being asked to share ideas about how they can help reduce the deficit directly with the Office for Civil Society.

LSC Third Sector Transition Support

Third Sector National Learning Alliance has launched a telephone support service for third sector organisations to help with the transition from the LSC to the successor agencies (Skills Funding Agency (SFA) and Young People's Learning Agency (YPLA).
 
Are you a third sector organisation currently receiving LSC funding directly or via another LSC provider and:


Support for Training Providers having difficulty accessing funding.

NCVYS report that training providers in the sector are finding it difficult accessing these potential funding streams to support learning provision (the background to the funding streams and new set up is available at http://www.ncvys.org.uk/Supporting_Training_Providers.html). 


Proposals Sought for Short Courses for NEET Young People

Connexions Leicester Shire is seeking proposals for 10-week courses for young people that are not in employment, education or training (NEET) in Leicester and Leicestershire. The invitation to put forward proposals, together with full details of what is required, will be on the Connexions website from Wednesday 9 June.

Personalisation development fund for User Led Organisations

Under the Leicestershire Children’s Extended Services Strategy the Blaby, Oadby and Wigston Locality Partnership Group has delegated management of the Sure Start Children’s Centre Programme commissioning budget. The group is led by the District and Borough and charged with developing a programme of projects to deliver the targets of the Children’s Centre Programme.


PCT Grant-Making Powers - Third Sector Paper

This paper is to highlight the role that grants can play in developing and supporting low level community activity. The use of grants is particularly pertinent to commissioning self care support for people with long term conditions.
 
Third Sector organisations will have an increasingly important role to play in meeting some of the expected increase in demand for self care support.


Big Lottery Fund announces new youth programme

Five-year grants available for projects that support young carers, people leaving care and young offenders

The Big Lottery Fund has announced that it will spend at least £30m next year on projects that support young people.
 
The new funding will be given to charities and public sector bodies that assist young carers, young people
leaving care and young offender institutions. At least 80 per cent of the funding will be allocated to charities and community groups.
