About Safeguarding

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of a child means the provision of Early Help to families as well as protecting children and young people from maltreatment; everyone is responsible for safeguarding children and young people.

Organisations are also responsible for safeguarding; they must ensure they have the right policies and procedures in place to ensure children and young people are kept safe, and that individual staff and volunteer workers understand their responsibility to act upon any suspicions or knowledge that a child is either at risk of, or being harmed.
