One Children's Workforce

What is ‘One Children’s Workforce’?
As part of the Government’s vision of having a world class workforce for children, young people and families there is a drive towards having ‘One Children’s Workforce’.

This means a workforce that is integrated, high quality and making the best contribution to the Every Child Matters outcomes.

The One Children’s Workforce Framework’
The One Children’s Workforce Framework sets out 8 principles the workforce should strive towards in order to achieve the 5 Every Child Matters outcomes.

How does this affect me?
In order to measure progress towards achieving ‘One Children’s Workforce’ a tool known as the ‘One Children’s Workforce Tool’ has been created to assess how far along we are. This tool is used by Children’s Trusts. Children’s Trusts are responsible for bringing together all services for children and young people in an area (download the 'What is a Children's Trust?' leaflet from here)

You may be asked to complete a questionnaire, take part in a workshop or focus group by your local Children’s Trust so that they can collect evidence on how they’re doing on a particular aspect of the One Children’s Workforce Framework.

They are interested in hearing from managers, staff, volunteers working with children and young people in all sectors and children and young people themselves. If you are approached, this will be your opportunity to have your voice heard.

The Tool will help Children’s Trusts identify areas for development and support and is not used to rate individual providers or staff members
