HYPE (How Young People Evaluate) is a new tool recently launched by Croydon Xpress to help young people to judge the quality of a worker.
Croydon Xpress were funded by the Children's Workforce Development Council to produce a workforce tool for practitioners to engage better with young people. The Xpress Team researched amongst their peers the qualities they feel are important in a worker. This was used to develop the HYPE tool for young people to judge the quality of a worker, which could be used as part of an appraisal process.
The HYPE tool works by asking workers to respond to a series of real life scenarios (written by young people), young people can then score and comment on the answers they give. This can be used by managers to help inform appraisal processes or to identify learning and development needs.
