During the last few months of 2010, the Children's Workforce Development Project undertook the huge task of trying to identify who works with the children, young people and families of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The project focussed on those working and volunteering within the private, voluntary and independent sectors - data on workers from other sectors is collected elsewhere.
If you are a member of the PVI Children's Workforce, you may remember being approached with a request to Come and Be Counted? Well, by December 2010, 11 716 members of the workforce had been counted from 2652 organisations.
January to March 2011 was spent analysing the data and producing reports on the information received. Since then the project has been busy promoting the work, which includes findings such as:

Within Leicestershire, Social, Family and Community Support, Sports & Culture and Youth settings have a greater number of volunteer workers than paid employees. In Leicester City Sports & Culture and Youth settings have more volunteer workers than paid staff.
