Our Local Children's Workforce

We want to hear all about you!

Each year the Children's Workforce Development Project undertakes the task of trying to identify who works with the children, young people and families of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Click on the links to read about our local workforce in 2010 and our local workforce in 2009

We are interested in those working or volunteering within the private, voluntary or independent sectors. Our aim is to understand:

  • The size of the sector - how many organisations are there, how many individual staff and volunteer workers are there?

  • The scope of the sector - what kind of organisations exist locally, what kind of work do they deliver and where?
  • The nature of the sector - what does our workforce look like?
  • The sector's developmental needs - what training does the sector need and how much of the sector has undergone safeguarding or CAF training?

Why do we do this?

So we* can support the sector to be the best it can be so that we can achieve the best outcomes for children, young people and families.  Examples of how last years data is being used now:

  • The Leicestershire CAF team used our data as evidence to  support the need to put on extra CAF training sessions
  • Leicester City Council has opened up it's 'Learning Pool' e-learning platform to the private, voluntary and independent (PVI) sector - this will enable groups to access CAF, Safeguarding and Information Sharing e-learning modules - click here for details.
  • Findings regarding the need for Safeguarding Training have been taken on board by the Safeguarding Learning, Training and Development Group who are responsible for ensuring there is Safeguarding Training available from September 1st 2011 (read more about this here)

....and when is the next data collection?

The data collection has finished for this year. We are now analysing the data and the reports will be out soon. In the meantime, take a look at our findings on our local workforce in 2010 and our local workforce in 2009
