The registration phase of the VBS was due to begin in July 2010, however the Coalition Government halted the registration phase whilst whilst a review was conducted into the scheme. The information below reflects guidance available before the review was announced. It will be updated once the outcomes of the review are released.
A free online service will allow employers to check an individuals monitoring status for a particular workforce.
Employers can register their interest or ‘subscribe to' one or many individuals monitoring status and receive updates if that status changes.
Those who have registered an interest in an individual will be notified if an individual has become ‘not monitored' for any reason.
If an individual is not monitored by the ISA it could mean:
It will be illegal to employ or to continue to employ anyone that is not monitored by the ISA.
Interested parties can log on to check an individuals status. They will need to provide the following information:
Example:
| Website transaction number |

| ISA registration number |
12345678910111213 |

| Date of Birth | 28.06.1981 |
| Monitoring status for children |

Unable to confirm monitoring - this means the individual is either barred, has not applied to the scheme or has voluntarily withdrawn from the scheme. It will be illegal to employ (in a paid or voluntary position) anyone that is not registered with the scheme.
