Domestic violence is a serious crime. One in three women and one in six men will be a victim of domestic violence at some point in their lives. It occurs in families of all or no religion, regardless of gender, race, age, sexuality or disability. Many people, both men and women, suffer in silence as they feel unable to find safety and justice or escape the abuse, fear and isolation. It is still largely a hidden crime - which simply is not acceptable.
It is essential that housing providers understand the issues surrounding the victims and survivors of domestic violence and have the right procedures in place to effectively provide the right services, support and help.
Increasingly those suffering from domestic violence are finding themselves homeless and extremely vulnerable. The work of the SAFE project at Foundation Housing has shown that Housing Providers and Domestic Violence outreach workers can work together to deal with domestic violence and prevent homelessness.
The aim of this event will be to challenge the issues facing workers who are tackling domestic violence everyday. Delegates will hear from high profile speakers who are leaders in the field. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the work the SAFE project has carried out since joining FHA in July 2009.
Delegate packs, refreshments and lunch will be provided on the day.
Please book early to avoid disappointment!

Child poverty is everybody's business. Figures report that one in three children in the UK live in poverty, and research shows that it impacts on a child's health, education and life expectancy.
This event is designed to provide local support and development organisations and voluntary and community organisations with information about the national child poverty strategy and local child poverty strategies and the role of the voluntary and community sector, with a mixture of presentations and workshops. The event is low cost at £45 ( £75 for stat sector) and we hope to attract a mixture of infrastructure organisations, direct delivery services and statutory services working on local child poverty strategies.
Child Poverty continues to make headlines and as many of you will have seen in CYP news the impact of the recession on poorer families is making headlines 'Latest research indicates that Poor families with children are bearing the brunt of the cuts' & we know that reducing Child poverty remains a key policy area for the Government and with the review by Frank Field underway and a Child Poverty consultation expected later in the Autumn the event will be a real opportunity for the sector to debate many of the issues and explore the potential to become more involved.
