Chartered Management Institute Announces Investment In The Third Sector

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has announced it is to invest in the development of Leaders and Senior Managers in the Third Sector.

In the East Midlands, ten sponsored opportunities are to be offered to experienced voluntary/third sector leaders to attain the new national management standard of ‘chartered manager’. It is hoped to select ‘post graduate’ candidates from each of the region’s counties.

The sponsorship offer is available to all of the region’s voluntary/third sector organisations.

Commenting on the initiative, Ron Simpson East Midlands Regional Chair of the CMI said,

“In these difficult economic times, my regional colleagues and I are delighted to be able to offer this leadership incentive to the third/voluntary sector. There is substantive evidence that sustainable communities require the effective leadership and social commitment of a strong and vibrant third sector. The new management standard of ‘chartered manager’ concentrates on a manager’s actual impact and achievements in their work place. The standard is being embraced by both government and the private sector in their search for cost effectiveness, higher standards of customer service and profitability. It is entirely appropriate that such an opportunity should be given to the wide range of third/voluntary sector organisations which play such a vital role in our communities”.
