The Common Core of Skills and Knowledge - usually called the Common Core, describes the skills and knowledge requirements that people who work with children, young people and families are expected to have.

Leicestershire County Council - Downloadable 'Mind the Gap' booklets which provide information and guidance for childcare practitioners on supporting children through transitions Islington Council - Information on supporting transitions in early years. The common core is being used in the development of job descriptions, induction (see common induction standards) training and development provisions. The common core will also be linked into the Integrated Qualifications Framework
